Gothic/Industrial Dance Music

I was DJing at an event last night where someone asked me to play something Gothic Industrial they could dance to.

Now this was NOT that type of crowd. It was on a cruise ship, but it got me to thinking that maybe it would be nice if I had something to play, just in case... so I am asking here for song ideas...

Not for bellydancing and not real obscure, something that a dancing crowd would know...Please don't give me group names because I wouldn't know what song to get... I need song names with the group.

Thanks!

one might also consider "Transylvanian Concubines" by Rasputina, or perhaps the Marilyn Manson Remix. also, Gary Numan has a lot of good stuff.... most of the Sacrifice album is worth having. My personal favourite on Gary Numan's Sacrifice album is the song "Seed of a Lie".
    Apoptygma Berzerk - "Borrowed Time"
Velvet Acid Christ - "Pretty Toy"
    Covenant - "Monochrome"
David Bowie - "As the World Falls Down" (from the Labyrinth soundtrack... another personal favourite)
Delerium - "Flowers Become Screens" (another popular one, I've found)
Die Krupps - "Fatherland" Sisters of Mercy mix
    Distorsis - "No Love Lost"
Fear Factory - "Securitron (Police State 2000)"
Fear Factory with Gary Numan - "Cars"
Front Line Assembly - "Resist (Dislocated remix)"
    Genitorturers - "Touch Myself (remix)"
    KMFDM - "Attack/Reload"
Ministry - "Every day is Halloween"
Rammstein - "Stripped" (originally done by Depeche Mode)
Siouxsie & the Banshees - "Face to Face"
    Skinny Puppy - "Morpheus Laughing"
    Switchblade Symphony - "Copy Cat"
    "Insect"
Trinity-X - "Forever (flip and fill remix)
    VNV Nation - "Darkangel"

ok, so I'm no DJ, but these are some of the many I keep on My playlists. The artists have many other song titles worth following up on also. Best of luck to you!

I always think of Skinny Puppy's "Mambo Witch" after that song ends. come to think of it, that's cause it was the next song on my old mix tape. Ah, the "mix tape" days...

A true sign of the mix-tape fanatic was tapes made by pressing up the portable tape player against a speaker when the college radio station played your favorite songs. I was never that far gone, though. I was just content with taping my LPs.

damned post didn't thread properly. I did the whole "tape from radio speaker" thing. Pure silliness.

Chuck, did you ever get your question answered? And what song(s) did you end up choosing?

Inquiring minds want to know (well, I do anyway).

Bomb by Retrosic. Or anything by Retrosic, but you wanted names.
Yes it is sometimes hard to DJ large crowds that are not gethered under the pretense of music. Like school dances, cruise like you said, and other such stuff. But you really have to either side with the vast majority and tell them no way, or play that one song and realize that just because only three people are dancing and the others are looking bewildered or angry, you did not screw up DJing, just only the people who requested the song like it.

What I have done Kristina is print out all the names of songs and I've started iTune-ing them,,, from that I will pick out which ones will work...

Funnny thing is I had a number of the songs and didn't evenm know they were cool! LOL

I'm doing the same thing, but on Rhapsody. Unfortunately, a lot of the older ones aren't available. Makes me wish I still had a working turntable, cause I've got lots of 'em on vinyl in the garage.

Well .. I am doing a solo at another event to Conga Fury. The Sultry Emberz (my troupe and I) are doing a number to Navaras -- I mixing a slow entrance from Intergallactic Caravan then it goes into Navaras....with Isis Wings. I have performed with wings for a number of years and now the troupe wants to do a group number ---- so they had me write it. We are excited....going to be quite striking if I must say so ... modestly hee hee. I am releasing an Isis Wings DVD this summer so we thought it was appropriate for us to put out a wings number together too! Of course 4 of us have to fit in a 10x14 space...should be interesting!

I love dancing to industrial and alternative....I often use music outside of the norm when I can. Of course restaurants and some shows, I stick to the mideastern more traditional stuff but it is the way out fun stuff that gets me going! The Emberz dance to Pump It by the Black Eyed Peas -- it is a favorite for many of those that come to our shows....not goth or traditional but a great song! hahaha...

Have a good week....those were just two songs I thought would be good for the goth/industrial list.....lots of great ideas.

I haven't seen anyone mention them, but I recommend Abney Park. I would start with "The Wrong Side" "Dear Ophelia", "Black Day" and "The Wake".

I am planning on using the first track of The Wake (there is a Dream mix as the last track) on Taxidermy for my first solo performance.
