Hi all,
I'm new, oh and I'm from little old England too, so pleeeeeeeeease be gentle :-)
Ok, I'm currently in my final year doing a degree in Applied Arts (ie I 'make stuff') and the stuff I make is jewellery, currently (because I am a goth and also a bellydancer) I am leaning toward making gothic bellydance accessories especially belts.
I just wanted to ask if anyone can give me a description of what they like having on their GBD belts, ie symbols, what materials, does it need to jangles etc
This is for my research. Also if anyone knows of other artists working in this firld please let me know.
Many many thanks

Re: Gothic bellydance jewellery question
Wed, March 18, 2009 - 1:17 AMThe veeery first gbd belt I made was a heavy alteration of your standard bondage belt. I simply added chains the way a tribal dancer would add yarn and tassels. The damned thing weighs about 10lbs, but I love it... it whips during turns and jangles like Marley's ghost.
As for other decorations, I simply love mirrors (but I'm the the tribal vein, so you see a lot of that without goth flair). I would adore somehow working in an Eye of Horus, ankhs, or corseting. I just don't have the talents to do much on my own.
I think the jingle vs. no jingle depends a lot on style.... but who doesn't enjoy their costume being one of the instruments? A little noise never hurt anyone.

Re: Gothic bellydance jewellery question
Wed, March 18, 2009 - 5:41 PMThis is my work in progress. It is actually a military belt with some chains added. I got the chains from home depot. The front is some Asian bling from an imports store.
