Ladies,
I am currently working on some solo sets for two upcoming performances - I am a classic Fire/Earth gal myself so these will both be very challenging but I am looking forward to it - but I REALLY need some ideas for some music.
1 = Samhain Ball performance with elemental themeing of Water. Thinking of going with a Dark Water Nymph (Selkie/Merrow/Mermain/Wraith) thing here - maybe even being displayed as a 'Freak' at a Dark Carnival. Likely to use Fan veils.
I need dark watery tunes with both a soft flowy piece plus another piece with some groovy pop/lock accents. Around 10 mins total
2 = Show with elemental theme of Air. Going to use props of Balanced Fog bowl and either Wings or Fan Veils for this. Am thinking of representing Mist or Fog...have always been fascinated by the SeaMists and will be channeling that creepy kindof feel for this. Again need at least one fluid style tune plus one with some decent accents in it. Would love something with some wind perhaps sampled throughout. Again around 10 mins total
Any ideas will be gratefully accepted.
Cheers :o)

Re: Music for Dark Elements of Water & Air
Mon, April 7, 2008 - 10:31 PMHmm - possibly too much heavy trancey beat to it and has vocals which I would prefer to avoid...
I love that spooky siren like wailing throughout it though...never heard of these guys before so will check out some of their other stuff too.
Thanks -

Mon, April 7, 2008 - 10:49 PMCheck out Maduro's Juno Wakes album. The first song drifting might fit what you're looking for; as might some of the others.
Here's a link to listen to samples. I don't have the album, but I like what I hear, and plan to get it eventually.

Re: Music for Dark Elements of Water & Air
Tue, April 8, 2008 - 12:01 AMI got this so thanks for reminding me - tis now on my pile of potentials thanks!
I am a victim of my own expenditure as I have purchased many CDs and find that when I am looking for something in particular I can't remember and don't have the time to listent to every CD. :o)
Am actually working on a choreo to Penunmbras from his first CD Shimmer Sustain that I am teaching to my Advanced class and have been considering using a slightly reworked version of the choreo for the Air element... -

Re: Music for Dark Elements of Water & Air
Tue, April 8, 2008 - 9:12 PMYou did wonderful. I know how you feel though, about posting. I haven't yet received the video of my first performance, but I debate all the time if I am willing to post it when I do get it. I thought you were lovely.
And here I was, thinking I was being all sneaky using the 300 soundtrack for music. -

Re: Music for Dark Elements of Water & Air
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 3:34 AMhee. i love the 300 soundtrack... I mainly messed up the floorwork, and my isolations were not as good as they usually are, I was a bit nervous bc alot of people I knew were in the audience.. I don't know why but I dance much better for strangers (ALOT better)
Sorry to hijack :o back to the original subject

Re: Music for Dark Elements of Water & Air
Fri, April 11, 2008 - 12:28 PMFor watery, try the track "Ocean" on Prana by Karma Sutra. I keep waiting for someone to dance to it, it's gorgeous and it's got a great transition about 4-1/2 minutes into it.
For air... ummm, something with chant? Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells? I got nothin'. -

Re: Music for Dark Elements of Water & Air
Sat, April 12, 2008 - 10:47 PMThanx for the suggestion.
Got any idea where I can listen to full version of this? Only links I can find is a 30 second clip which doesn't really give me much of an idea if it is gonna work for me.
Re Air...hmmm may dig out my Delirum & Enigma CDs??? -
-
Re: Music for Dark Elements of Water & Air
Tue, April 15, 2008 - 10:02 AMHrm. CD Baby has 2 minutes of it, but it's still not the interesting part in the second half. iTunes has it, if that helps.
Enigma. Mmm. Good stuff.

Air 1. Drifting - Maduro 2. The Lantern - Beats Antique 3. Penumbras - Maduro (Featuring Fog bowl and Wings)
